As an important way of social interaction, sharing means an individual is willing to sharea certain kind of resource with others. Sharing possesses significant practical significanceduring children’s growing process, for it helps children get recognition and love from othersand improve children’s language expression ability and interpersonal skills while theyassociate with their companions. In current China, one urban family most commonly onlyhave one child, thus children are more often than not spoiled by adults; being self-centered,they always consider themselves first, refuse to share and ignore others’ feelings and needs, especially if they like something, they will show strong possessiveness towards it. Based onabove theories and phenomena, we can’t help questioning:what kind of characteristics dochildren’s sharing awareness and behavior has in such a special environment like cities inChina? Is there a consistency between sharing awareness and sharing behavior? Does thedevelopment of children’s sharing awareness and behavior have a rapid phase? What kind ofcultivation can improve children’s sharing awareness and behavior at this phase?Based on the above questions, the study conducts an experiment among the180childrenwho are3-6years old of two kindergartens in Huludao City. During the experiment, situational test is used to probe into the age characteristics, gender features and theconsistency of sharing awareness and sharing behavior etc. of the sharing awareness andbehavior that3-6-year-old urban children have towards different shared objects. Besides, thestudy also explores how to cultivate children’s sharing awareness at the rapid developmentstage. Through analysis and summary, the study comes to the following conclusions:1. Children’s sharing awareness and behavior develop and improve as they grow up.2. There is a rapid phase during the development of children’s sharing awareness andbehavior, that is, when children are4-5years old.3. There isn’t obvious gender difference in children’s sharing awareness and behavior.4. As for sharing awareness,3-5-year-old children are most willing to share things thatare given by others, coming next are their own things, prizes are the things that they are mostunwilling to share. While children who are5-6years old are most willing to share their ownthings, coming second are things given by others, with prizes ranking in the last. Prizes are things that children of all age groups are most unwilling to share.5. When it comes to sharing behavior, facing different shared objects,3-6-year-oldchildren are most willing to share things brought by their own, coming next are things givenby others, ranking the last are prizes.6. When the shared objects are brought by their own, there’s an obviously positivecorrelation between the sharing awareness and behavior of children who are3-5years old, their sharing awareness and behavior are consistent. If the shared objects are prizes or thingsgiven by others, there is not a correlation between the sharing awareness and behavior ofchildren of all age groups, their sharing awareness and behavior are inconsistent. The sharingawareness and behavior of5-6-year-old children are inconsistent no matter what the sharedobjects are.7. Education activities can effectively promote the development of3-6-year-oldchildren’s sharing awareness and sharing behavior. It’s suggested that teachers should createfavorable conditions in various activities to facilitate the overall development of children’ssharing awareness and behavior.
