There is a dialectic relationship between language and culture. Culture is one of the most important attributes of language, and language is one of the most important carrier of culture. Language is not just a symbol system, its forms are also affected by a variety of factors. Such as social customs, behavior, lifestyles, ways of thinking, values, ethnic beliefs, psychological, personality and so on. Language is inseparable from culture, culture rely on language communication to spread. As a social and cultural phenomenon, foreign language learning must be closely linked with the society and culture. In order to achieve the ultimate goal of foreign language education, and cultivate students’ awareness of cross-cultural communication. The training process in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar should introduce background knowledge to the students which is about politics, culture, customs and practices in relevant countries. Only in this way, students can develop the ability to communicative with people who has different culture backgrounds.New English Curriculum for Chinese Junior Middle Schools points out that the tasks of English teaching are:First, to strengthen students’interest in studying English; Second, to establish both national spirit and an awareness of and respect for cultural differences; Third, to broaden their horizons and enrich their life experience; Fourth, to take part in cultural life and develop as individuals. So teachers should take advantage of the teaching material in the language teaching and help students understand British and American culture, so as to inspire students’awareness of cross-cultural communication. Therefore, its necessary to introduce culture background to students in junior high school English teaching.This paper attempts to explore the cultural introduction in junior high school English teaching through experimental research. It will be divided into six chapters:The chapter one is the introduction. It provides the research background, research significance and the main methods of research. The chapter two is the literature review. It mainly describes the origins and evolution of constructivism teaching theory, the achievements on cultural introduction at home or abroad. The chapter three is about cultural introduction and English teaching in junior high school. It is to illustrate from the following three aspects:The first is the requirements for cultural awareness in’New English Curriculum for Chinese Junior Middle School’; The second is the analysis of the current situation in junior high school English teaching; The third is the necessity of cultural introduction study in junior high school English teaching. The chapter four analyzes cultural introduction model in English teaching on the basis of the constructivism in junior high school. The chapter five is about the experiment research of cultural introduction in English classroom teaching. The chapter six is conclusion part. The author reflects the advantages and disadvantage of this thesis.
