The rise of modern woman education China is closely related to the churchschool.women’s education is an important part of education. There has been Women’seducation since the human society. However, in the previous China, women were notallowed to enter the traditional education school; their rights to education had beendeprived. After the Opium War, the imperialist powers opened the door of the Qinggovernment with gunboats and from that time church schools began to enter China. Atfirst, the church school is as a means to “spread gospel” by the imperialistcountries, but it promoted the development of Chinese women’s education.At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the period of early republic of china;Chinese society in various fields had undergone tremendous changes. In the aspect ofeducation, Chinese imperial examination system which had been lasted for thousandyears had been abolished; western education system was introduced into China so thatChinese women’s education began to develop. As a special case of women’seducation, women’s education of missionary school presented special aspectsof teaching form, teaching content with China traditional women’s education, it wasalso different from women’s education in Chinese national school. With the transformof modern China social and the development of education that western capitalistcountries held in China, the women’s education of missionary school had formed acomplete education system, including the primary education, secondary education,higher education, occupation education and so on, which had exerted an importantinfluence on Chinese educational system and education.The area of Zhili Province was not only important but also it was the key placeof missionaries preaches. After the second Opium War, missionaries are permitted topreach people’s religion in the mainland and were protected. Missionary schoolsbegan to be set up and then the education of women in Zhili began to rise. Intwentieth Century20years later, with the rise of “the recovery of educationrights”, some church schools changed into state-owned, sponsored by the Chinese people, the missionary education was no longer as the means of “spreadthe gospel” and gradually changed to meet the China women education in schools, theproperty of women’s education of missionary school was changed.The development of women’s education of missionary school in Zhilipromoted the rise of the modern women’s education and also changed thetraditional forms of women’s education. A large number of women came out of thehouses who no longer dependent on men to survive but became independent inlife, education, occupation and other aspects, besides made important contributionsto the liberation of women.
