In1840, after the Opium War, in order to broaden their aggressive channel and strengthen colonial rule in China, the colonial organizations have to preach religion doctrine. However, Chinese people revolted the spread of Western religious thought so intensively that it suffered powerful resistance. For the above reason, the Western Church changed the missionary way through building school to educate a lot of local missionary scientific and cultural knowledge. They would be converted to the Church, then the missionary purposes achieved. Running Church schools is a measure of cultural aggression, but it also has an immeasurable impact on all aspects of modern education, and actively promoted the development of Chinese modern education, then the colliding and blending between Chinese and Western culture began. This paper, starting from the imperial examination system, introduces the process from its development in Sui and Tang dynasties to extinction in the late Qing Dynasty. With acknowledging the positive effect of the imperial examination system on education, I also point out its defects such as it made people stick to convention, study rigidly, and brought out a harmful learning environment. Because of this, the establishment of the new education had an enormous impact on it. Based on the situation of church school in four major regions of our province, this paper analyzes the whole running process of the church school, and summarizes its function to promote modern education in our province. While, compared the church schools in our province with those in other area of our country and the Western countries, the paper comes to conclusions that we would better our school managing mode, improve the quality of teachers and create a good atmosphere for learning, and so on, to provide a reference for the blossom of education in our province.
