With the progress of new chemistry curriculum, enquiry-based scientificteaching is unprecedented attention. However, the research on width and depth ofenquiry-based chemical teaching, that is expanding research of exploring teaching,is lack. Extending theme enquiry-based chemical teaching of high school is researchtopics, expecting to obtain the corresponding progress from the exploration of theoryand practice.Firstly, to collect relevant information through literature research methods,understanding the background of theme enquiry-based scientific teaching,identifyingresearch purposes、methods and ideas,defined the concept and elaborated theoreticalbasis for extending theme enquiry-based chemical teaching of high school。Secondly, with multi-school chemistry teachers of Shijiazhuang as the surveysample, through the preparation of a questionnaire、questionnaire distribution andrecycling、Statistical of the data and analysis of results,understanding their cognitionof the necessity and feasibility of extending theme enquiry-based chemical teachingof high school、present situation of theme enquiry-based scientific teaching、exploringtypes and problems of the theme.By teaching strategies, from determining the theme of enquiry-based scientificteaching、designing and implementation of chemical experiments、inquiring chemicalfacts and web quest to expound the strategies of extending theme enquiry-basedchemical teaching of high school.Finally,Choosing alcohol (ethanol) that is knowledge of high school and closelycontact with the social life as the theme, designing the case of extendingenquiry-based chemical teaching,intention to expand and enhance the students’knowledge、skills and emotional attitudes and values.There are the following conclusions:(1) Extending theme enquiry-based chemical teaching of high school isnecessary and feasible. (2)Grasping the inquiry width and breadth of enquiry-based scientific teaching isthe key.(3) High school review stage is more suitable to extending enquiry-basedscientific teaching. Because students have exhaustive knowledge and inquiry abilityin this period are more conducive for extending enquiry-based scientific teaching.This study expects to provide a reference for chemistry teacher who want toextend enquiry-based scientific teaching.
