A variety of drawbacks were existed in traditional chemistry classroom,which was paid attention to the teaching task.Excessive energy of teacher was occupied by exams,and students only got scattered knowledge easily.The talent training requirement in the new era had not been satisfied by traditional model of “having knowledge,but none education”.Therefore,it was extremely important to explore a teaching model,in which the new curriculum reform concept could be implemented and students' subject quality could be improved.However,"backward design" and "unit theme teaching" had attracted more and more domestic scholars' attention in recent years,and have been practiced in the related courses.But few researches studied the combination of these two teaching models and applied this model in teaching,which also lacked of theoretical guidance.Therefore,in this article,the backward design was guided with unit theme teaching to make scattered knowledge unitization and structuration by teaching plan design and practical application.The main research contents are as follows:The first part: The research advances of backward design and unit theme teaching at home and abroad were summarized.It was found that the previous studies were committed to backward design and unit theme teaching separately.Therefore,the research ideas of using backward design theory to guide unit theme teaching were determined,which based on the theory of constructivism,goal theory and system theory.The second part: The questionnaire survey method was used to conduct related surveys of junior high school students' chemistry learning attitudes and their views on the current teaching model.The results showed that students' enthusiasm for learning could not be stimulated by current teaching model,and majority students paid attention to backward design and unit theme teaching models.The application of "unit subject teaching under backward design" to front-line teachers in teaching showed that this model was used rarely in the classroom,and majority teachers were willing to carry out related teaching activities.The third part: According to theoretical research and questionnaire survey results,the process of unit theme teaching was constructed based on the template of backward design.The teaching route was established based on the idea of backward teaching design,which set unit learning goals firstly,then carried out unit teaching evaluation,and finally implemented unit teaching.The course of "Explore Water World" was designed as a representative teaching case.The fourth part: The experimental method was conducted in practical research,and the unit teaching practice of "Exploring the Water World" was carried out.The post-test data of chemical attitude and knowledge testing for the experimental class and the control class were analyzed.Practical research results,for unit theme teaching under backward design,showed that students' chemistry learning interest was improved by setting the evaluation and then teaching mode.The deep understanding of students for the unit's knowledge was strengthened,which accelerated the unitization and structuration for knowledge system,and resulted in an obviously improvement for academic performance and homework quality.The traditional teaching mode was broken through,and the improvement of teaching efficiency was accelerated by the innovative combination of unit theme teaching and backward design teaching.
