Sabbatical Leave Standardization Of Chinese Universities

Sabbatical leave for higher education originated in Harvard University in1880,then it gradually standardized in the universities of the United States and some othercountries. In our country, many colleges and universities have also proposed theimplementation of sabbatical leave and have formulated relevant policies, but inpractice, they didn’t put it into practice for various reasons. In this thesis, it is animportant practical significance that sabbatical leave has been standardized and widelypromoted in colleges and universities. This thesis has carried out a survey on three kindsof universities which were prepared or already implementation of sabbatical leave ornever implemented sabbatical leave. The survey results had been data analyzed by usingof research and literature analysis. It explores the key issues of China’s implementationof sabbatical leave, revealing the underlying reasons of sabbatical leave development,and proposes an actionable sabbatical design of sabbatical leave.Chapter1is the introduction on theoretical basis of sabbatical leave system,providing a theoretical basis for later after study.Chapter2is introduction on implementation and basic history of domestic andinternational sabbatical leave system, and gives a clear development process ofsabbatical leave system, meanwhile summarizes its main features. Basis on that, thischapter illustrates the practical value for China’s implementation of sabbatical leave, inorder to find an available way to implement this system in our country.Chapter3is the actual survey in universities. It is for understanding universityteachers and managers’ attitude about implementation and program planning ofsabbatical system. Meanwhile, it identifies the common problems and difficulties andanalyzes its reason.Chapter4discusses the basic idea on implementation of standardized sabbaticalleave system in university. It formulates a sabbatical leave system applied to China’s colleges and universities, and puts forward measures and suggestions for effectiveimplementation of standardized sabbatical leave system. And at same time all thosemeasures and suggestions constantly improves our sabbatical leave system, in order tomake it standardized and institutionalized. It is a theory and practical reference guide forsabbatical leave system normally implemented in our country.
