Since the construction of the"double-class"university,many universities such as Dalian University of Technology and Peking University have established an academic leave system.This is a symbol of the university's academic leave system once again entered the country after the Republic of China.Since its establishment,sabbatical leave has been warmly sought after by universities and colleges all over the world for its many advantages.Specifically,it can improve teachers'job burnout,enhance teachers'creativity,increase teachers'knowledge and experience,promote cultural exchange and integration,and promote the far-reaching development of teachers and universities themselves.For China,it is a powerful choice for establishing a high-level university and a"double first-class"university.Through the survey of teachers in Yunnan University,this study found that:1.In terms of their attitudes towards academic leave,most of the teachers expressed their willingness to take leave(90.5%),and most of the teachers(87.7%)believed that it was necessary to establish an academic leave system.Moreover,no matter in which stage of Feisler's Theory of Teacher Career Cycle Development,the willingness of teachers in Yunnan University to take academic leave is very strong.2.Teachers of Yunnan University have a high recognition of academic leave,and believe that it plays a positive role in improving the academic level of teachers,promoting their own development,and promoting the development of disciplines and universities.3.In the analysis of the text content of academic leave,namely the professional title requirements of teachers on leave,the number of years of advance service,the length of leave,salary and other aspects,it is found that the attitude of the teachers in Yunnan University is not different from that of the 28 universities in China.In particular,most teachers believe that only those in teaching and research posts are eligible for vacation,and academic research is the primary goal of vacation.4.There is little difference between male and female teachers in the difficulties and challenges of academic leave;No matter what the professional title of the teachers,most(all around 80%)are very clear about their academic goals.However,the quota and target of academic leave,the understanding and support of family members,and the difference in living habits and diet can all have a significant impact on teachers'willingness to take academic leave.In a word,teachers of different ages,teaching years,academic qualifications and professional titles have different views on academic leave.From system guarantee,personnel support,salary and treatment,to career development,life and cultural habits,etc.,it is possible to become an obstacle to teachers'willingness to take academic leave.How to measure the value of sabbaticals and balance their teaching and living arrangements should be considered by both teachers and school policy makers.
