In recent years, stereoscopic video was experiencing an explosive expension inordinary families and entertainments. The corresponding3D imaging technology wasalso inspired by it and made big jumps in these ten years. However, the other relativetechniques, such as storagement, compression and transmission, which are alsonearly connected to it, are in the beginning of the development and restricting thefurther development of this area. According to the expirence of the development invideos, the development of quality assessment provides for a feedback mechanism andpromotes the developments of other techniques significantly. Stereoscopic video iscurrently in the same situation as video as before. Thus, a stable and efficient qualityassessment method for stereoscopic video is precious and necessary.In the research of quality assessment methods for stereoscopic video, the designand implement of subjective and objective quality assessment method is the majorityof this thesis. In the respective of subjective quality assessment experiments, how todesign and implement an justified and accurate quality assessment method is thefocus point. In the design, fundamental features of stereoscopic videos, as theexperiment materials, have been carefully analyzed, and provide solid logic basis forthe design. In the respectives of objective quality assessment methods, this thesisintroduce existed mehods in the field of image and video at first. And then it explainedthe reason to design the framework, which makes image quality assessment methodsstill effective in scenario of stereoscopic vides, as proposed in this thesis. In theexperiments for the efficience of objective quality assessment methods, a sufficientevaluation to methods is included. In the part of analysis, prodections produced byobjective methods are compared to the experiment data from the subjective test.At the end of this thesis, a conclusion to the gain and experience in this researchand a plan for following works is presented.
