Organizational structure changed from functions structure to division structure and matrixstructure, then to network structure. Based on the idea of co-evolution, this article researchesthe influencing factors of organizational structure evolution and evolutionary path.Organizational structure evolution is the result of co-evolution of Enterprise and theEnvironment. Technological change and institutional environment is an external drive for theevolution of organizational structure. Technological evolution led to the emergence of newforms of enterprise organization structure. The mechanisms of natural selection and adaptivelearning are making a difference, which a certain kind of organizational structure is preserved,and a period of time to become the norm of the organizational structure. Under the pressure ofinstitutional environments, organizational structure shows convergence. Enterprise features arethe internal drive for the evolution of organizational structure. Enterprise features include fiveaspects: corporate life cycle, enterprise scale and scope, corporate strategy, corporateknowledge and skills, corporate leader qualities. Changes in these features result in acorresponding change in organizational structure, showing the diversity of organizationalstructure. With the information technology and network development, organizational structurepresents the characteristics of network and flexible. Enterprise more and more frequentinteraction with the environment. Enterprise plays a more important role in the evolution oforganizational structure.Finally, through the analysis of Suning organizational structure evolution, the authorconfirms the theoretical analysis again. Technological change and institutional environmentschanges in China are external power of Suning organizational structure evolution. Suning’srapid growth is closely linked with the history of China’s Reform and Opening. Suningcharacteristics are the internal power of its organizational structure evolution. Suningorganizational change had an important impact on the home appliance retail industry as wellas e-commerce industry, changed the rules of the game and the competitive environment of the industry. Enterprises play a more positive role in the process of organizational structureevolution. Organizational structure and environments are into the stage of co-evolution.
