Our country with a vast territory, much people and geographical environmentrelatively complex, is one of the countries often suffer the natural disaster, especiallyin recent years, earthquake, drought, floods, landslides and other natural disastersoccur frequently, either frequency or disaster degree is relatively higher than theprevious year ’s level, natural resources and the environment has caused tremendousdamage, causing casualties and enormous economic losses, to agriculture, industry,transport, tourism and other industries have a certain degree of influence.Jilin province is a major agricultural province,agricultural production conditionbe richly endowed by nature, and therefore subject to natural disasters the impact isbigger, especially flood and drought disaster, on Jilin province production and livingorder and economic development has caused great damage to the disaster, soresearch is very necessary.This article first of all the relevant researches are reviewed, and introduces thetypes and causes of natural disasters and the major natural disasters and influence inJilin Province.Then explains the disaster economics related concepts, such as themeaning, function, principle and index system.The third part using of input-outputmodel, with agriculture as an example the analysis and calculate of direct andindirect economic losses and losses in other sectors. And using of the Harrod-Domar model of natural disaster on economy development of Jilin province theinfluence conduct systemic analysis, analysis results indicate that the impact ofnatural disasters on economic growth is larger in Jilin Province, there is an urgentneed to take effective measures to reduce the extent of the damage of naturaldisasters.Finally, this article from the safety and disaster reduction, improving theprevention ability and relevant policy system mention countermeasures andsuggestions of the adverse effect of natural disaster reduction.
