With Beijing’s economic developed rapidly,at the same time, industrial structureof economic improved, which the tertiary industry accounted for about80%in threeindustries, and Beijing has entered a "post-industrial" era. Compared with thetraditional "industrial" era of the city, the city of "post-industrial" era featured thatservice-oriented industry has become an important force in promoting economicgrowth. The optimization of the industrial structure so that energy consumption perunit of economic gradually reduced, in particular, the relationship between the powerinput energy of and economic growth has changed. Explore the relationship betweenthe "post-industrial" era of Beijing’s economic growth and electricity consumptionwhich is conducive to the balanced development of Beijing’s economic growth andelectricity consumption. The study of economic growth tends to make energy factors as exogenousvariables excluded between economic growth models for a long period of time. However, energy is not inexhaustible, dwindling energy to make it become one of themost important constraint factor which affecting economic growth. In this paper, inorder to study the dynamic relationship between electricity consumption andeconomic growth,Electricity consumption as endogenous variables included in theanalytical framework of economic growth. The research on Beijing’s regional GDP and electricity consumption of1978-2011, electricity consumption intensity and the structure effect and efficiencyeffect of the electricity consumption intensity were analyzed to investigate theindustrial structure improvement and technical progress on the influence of the powerefficiency. Then, the establishment of model included these factors that technicalprogress, capital, labor and power consumption of the economic growth, the use ofdynamic error correction technology to examine the long-term and short-termrelationship between economic growth and electricity consumption. Finally, accordingto the three divisions of industry through the same analysis, found the secondaryindustry and the tertiary industry from power consumption to economic growth insingle direction between the causal relationship is result to the conclusion that Beijinghas the same single direction of the causal relationship from the electric powerconsumption to economic growth.
