| Mulberry is mainly used as feed for silkworm in sericulture production. The mulberry fruit enjoys great reputation in China, named as king of fruit because of good nutrition and special flavor. At present it is listed as a treasure among the new kinds of fruits. In China, mulberry industry has been developing rapidly in the recent decade, showing a good market prospect with wider utilization in processing juice, wine, jam, anthocyanins and other products. Currently there are around200hectares of fruit mulberry in Huzhou, and mulberry industry has entered a very initial step. In view of the importance in enhancement of comprehensive utilization and reasonable transformation of sericulture in Huzhou, it is of high significant to promote mulberry fruit industry.The current study set up mulberry germplasm bank based on comprehensive observation and analysis of some introduced fruit mulberry under local environmental conditions. Moreover, cultural technologies were investigated on the main fruit mulberry cultivars, providing technical support for development of large-scale, normalized and intensive production of mulberry fruits. In addition, we also studied deep processing of mulberry fruits, including processing technique of mulberry juice and wine. We measured anthocyanin contents of mulberry fruits of the cultivars widely planted in Huzhou, providing the theoretical reference for deep processing of mulberry fruit and cultivar choice. Finally, we also investigated the key technologies for processing mulberry candied.In this paper, we proposed the strategies of developing mulberry fruit industry in Huzhou, based on the comprehensive analysis of the situation and prospect of mulberry fruit as a new kind of agricultural product, and considering its possible functions in development of local silk culture, tourism and leisure industry. The results may provide some valuable reference for making the relevant policies for developing sustainable mulberry fruit industry. |
