Research About The Strategies Of Mianyang’s Megacity Construction

China’s megacity has developed rapidly in the recent years The scale effect, accumulative effect and radiate effect it brings can not only boost the development of the city, but also push the development of the hinterland of the city. And finally promote the improvement of the urban system in our country. As a result, more and more cities devoted to build the megacity, which can bring a huge boost to the urban economies. Due to the lack of the megacities, the city system of Sichuan is incomplete, which restricts the overall development of the urban economy in Sichuan. To improve system of the city hierarchy and boost the scale development of urban economies, Sichuan province proposed to built eight megacities during the12th Five-Year-Plan period, Mianyang is one of the cities. As the second largest city of Sichuan province, Mianyang has the most potentiality to complete the construction of megacity. However, in the process of building the megacity, what problems Mianyang should be pay attention to and how to built the megacity will be solved in the paper. The research of the construction of the megacity of Mianyang can not only provide guidance to the construction of the Mianyang megacity, but also to the other seven proposed megacities in Sichuan, even more other provinces in China, which has the practical significance.This paper starts from the relevant theories and the practice research of the megacity firstly.Moreover, this paper analyses the Mianyang city’s historical evolution process, evolution features, the present development situation and the requirement of the megacity construction, which extract the development of important features from these, and then demonstrates the necessity of constructing megactity of Mianyang.Then,the paper confirms the gap of the existed megacities dependent on the index analysis method. Furthermore, this paper uses the SWOT and comparative analysis methods to analyze situation of Mianyang’s megactity construction, thus clearing the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and challenges of Mianyang. At last, the paper discusses target, the train of thought and strategies about Mianyang’s megactity construction. This paper finally concludes that the megacity construction not only depends on the urban population growth. It is more important to increase the bearing capacity, cohesion and radiation force of the city, which requests Mianyang to expand the city scale, optimize urban infrastructure and the city industry, and to promote the urban function at the same time in the megacity constructing process, so as to comprehensively improve the urban overall construction level and urban economic development level.
