From historical experience, the transfer of agricultural labor plays an important rolein the economic development of a country. To be essential for a country’sindustrialization and urbanization accompanied by the transfer of surplus agriculturallabor to urban non-farm sectors. Judging from the experience of developed countries, theexpansion of the secondary industry of the city will lead to jobs and raise the level ofwages, which can promote the transfer of agricultural labor. According to the basicprinciples of economics shows that the agricultural labor force transfer tonon-agricultural industries, usually marginal increase agricultural labor productivity andthe level of remuneration, and play the role of inhibition of the marginal laborproductivity and the level of remuneration of the non-agricultural industries, so as to beable to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas. But in fact, along with thecontinuous transfer of the agricultural labor force in China, failed to show the same trendof narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas, but showed some volatility.Therefore, it is necessary for this case study of China’s agricultural labor force transfermechanism affecting the income gap between urban and rural areas as well as the transferof agricultural labor has failed to effectively narrow the urban-rural income gap in ChinaCause Analysis.The article first introduces the classical theory of the transfer of agricultural labor andurban-rural income gap and scholars to study the situation at home and abroad,introduction and description, leads to the characteristics and status of China’s agriculturallabor force transfer and the income gap between urban and rural areas; Secondly, in thiscontext, the focus on the agricultural labor force transfer mechanism of the income gapbetween urban and rural areas, a deeper look into the specific context of socio-economicconditions, which factors affect the mechanism of play; Finally, the comparative analysisof the successful experience of the United States, Japan and South Korea through thetransfer of agricultural labor to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas,combined with the actual situation in China, suitable for China’s policy recommendations:the elimination of institutional barriers, and promote the transfer of labor; increase investment in human capital, improve the wages of migrant workers; accelerate rural andagricultural development, strengthen government support; speed up the upgrading ofindustrial structure, the development of labor-intensive industries.
