The level leading cadres in China’s civil service plays a very important role,they are the backbone ofChina’s reform and development,they shoulder the important responsibility of the social and economicdevelopment,they are the executives to implement the scientific outlook of development of China. Deeplyunderstand the relationship among the psychological,behavioral characteristics and work performance ofthe level leading cadres have a great significance to further strengthen the scientific management. Thisresearch is from the personality characteristics of the level leading cadres as a starting point to figure outthe relationship among personality characteristics,leadership style and work performance. In this studyused literature analysis,interview and questionnaire survey research method,by using confirmatory factoranalysis,structural equation modeling and regression statistical methods to analyze the survey results. Theresult shows that:Firstly,the personality traits of extraversion,openness,agreeableness,conscientiousness andneurological with the task performance of work performance and contextual performance weresignificantly correlated. Personality traits of extraversion,openness and conscientiousness predict positiveabout the task performance of work performance and contextual performance.Secondly,the personality traits of extraversion,openness,agreeableness, conscientiousness, andneurological with leadership style were significantly related. The personality traits of extraversion,openness leadership style was positively predict.Thirdly,the personality traits of extraversion,openness,agreeableness,conscientiousness,andneurological significantly related to leadership style,task performance of work performance and contextualperformance. Leadership style plays an intermediary role among extraversion,task performance of workperformance and contextual performance. Leadership style also plays an intermediary role amongopenness,task performance of work performance and contextual performance.Fourthly,different gender,age,level of education,tenure and work experience are differences in thedifferent dimensions of personality characteristics. Finally,for the deficiencies of this study,the outlook of the present study has been described.
