Analysis Of Industrial Transfer In Fujian Province Based On The Visual Angle Of Industrial Agglomeration

As a prevalent economic phenomenon in China’s regional economicdevelopment, the question of industrial agglomeration and industrial transfer is also aimportant proposition of the economic academia in recent years.Since the reform and opening up, the southeast coastal areas of Fujian provincehas formed a number of large-scale industrial clusters after30years rapiddevelopment. However, with the rising cost of land, labor，resources and other factors,the rising logistics costs and the narrowing development space, many manufacturinghave gradually lost basic advantages in the southeast coastal areas. The risk ofindustrial clusters is also increasing. These recession industries are gradually shiftedoutwards, so as to free up new space for industrial upgrading and the development ofemerging industries. At the same time, the economically underdeveloped areas ofNorthwestern Fujian continue to improve the infrastructure and optimize theinvestment environment. They take advantage of their rich resources and marketdevelopment potential to attract foreign businesses to invest and build factories in thelocal. They are actively promoting industrial cluster strategic and undertaking theindustrial transfer of coastal areas in order to promote local economic development.The trends of regional industrial transfer in Fujian are becoming evident. This thesistakes manufacturing industry in southeastern and northwestern of Fujian as theresearch object, and explores the characteristics and trends of industrial agglomerationand industrial transfer, in order to provide a reference for the reasonably and orderlyregional industrial transfer in Fujian.Fujian province is taken as an example in this thesis to empirically analyzeregional industrial transfer under the vision of industrial agglomeration. Firstly, thetheoretical relations between industrial agglomeration and industrial transfer as wellas the measurement method and model of industrial transfer and agglomeration are elaborated; Secondly, the results，the mode and the problems of the regional industrialtransfer in Fujian Province are analyzed. Thirdly，the thesis analyzes the presentsituation of Fujian’s industrial agglomeration，and constructs a static and dynamicmodel to measure the changes of industrial agglomeration in different areas to drawon the trend of industrial transfer in Fujian; Finally, the suggestions of promotingregional industrial transfer in Fujian to coordinate regional economic development areproposed.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The competitive industries of each city in Fujian are different, and every areaforms the specialized industrial clusters corresponding to their competitive industry.Each region in Fujian has its own unique industries. The competitive industries ofSoutheastern Fujian are mainly labor-intensive and capital-intensive industries.Northwestern Fujian takes advantage of its agricultural, forestry and mineralresources, and the competitive industries are mainly resource extraction and primaryprocessing of resources.(2) There is a strong dispersion trend in the industrial agglomeration of Fujianprovince over the past decade. The level of industrial agglomeration in Fujian hasappeared a downward trend since2000, and the distribution of the manufacturingindustries in different cities tends to disperse.(3) The trend that the industries of Southeastern Fujian transfer to NorthwesternFujian is obvious. Most manufacturing industries in Fujian have almost experiencedor are experiencing the process of shifting from Southeastern Fujian to NorthwesternFujian and forming a new gathering centre.In the process of promoting the regional industrial transfer in Fujian Province，Southeastern Fujian should work on industrial selection and industrial upgrading，Northwestern Fujian should improve their ability of undertaking appropriateindustries，so as to create a complete and systematic coordination mechanism ofregional industrial transfer between the two areas.The research of this thesis, on the one hand, is of great significance to promote theorderly and harmonious regional industrial transfer in Fujian, on the other hand, is of great practical significance to upgrade the traditional industrial clusters inSoutheastern Fujian and enhance regional competitiveness in Northwestern Fujian.
