The Mechanism Impact Of Knowledge Absorptive Capacity On Innovational Performance

According to the theory of dynamic capabilities, capacity is the real motivationfor the development of enterprises.As an important dynamic capacity, knowledgeabsorptive capacity is one of the core competitiveness of enterprises. The enterprisehas a strong knowledge absorptive capacity that efficiently makes enterprise access toall knowledge, improves enterprise,knowledge utilization efficiency and theirinnovation performance, which can form a unique core competencies that is difficultto imitate. Especially, the majority of our enterprises which are in a catch-up period,extensively demand for and more efficiently use knowledge. Meanwhile, theinnovation management model is undergoing transition from closed innovation toopen innovation model. Open innovation is a new, more flexible and advancedinnovation management mode.To a large extent, it has changed the paradigm ofenterprises,gaining and using knowledge and promoted knowledge flow. Therefore, itis important for enterprises to how to more effectively implement knowledgeabsorptive capacity and open innovation model to full access to and use of internaland external resources, which can improve innovation performance of firms.Open innovation is seen as a environment variable in previous papers, which isnot sufficiently studied. Meanwhile, the study that how Chinese enterprise implementopen innovation model is shortage. Moreover, the study is not abundant that howknowledge absorptive capacity affect the innovational performance. Based on theoryof knowledge absorptive capacity, this paper researches how knowledge absorptivecapacity affects the open innovation model and explains that knowledge absorptivecapacity is the basis for enterprises to effectively implement open innovation. At thesame time, the paper explains that open innovation plays the mediating effect onbetween the knowledge absorptive capacity and innovational performance.This study is based on the open innovation to explains how enterprise,knowledge absorption capacity affect innovational performance. According to Zahra&George,s theory, the paper divides the process of knowledge absorption capacity ofthe four dimensions——knowledge acquisition, digestion, transformation andutilization. Open innovation model is divided into two dimensions-externalknowledge input mode and internal knowledge output mode. The paper constructsconceptual model and put forward the following four theoretical assumptions:1.Knowledge absorption capacity and its four dimensions are positively related toinnovational performance of enterprises;2.Knowledge absorption capacity ispositively related to open innovation;3.Open innovation is positively related toinnovational performance;4.Open innovation plays the mediating effect on betweenthe knowledge absorptive capacity and innovational performance. In this paperempirical research method, field interviews and the form of a questionnaire survey isused. The manufacturing and high-tech enterprises in Qingdao is researched for access to the actual data. The paper does regression analysis for survey results withSPSS.17. Conclusions are as follows:1.Enterprise knowledge absorptive capacity hasa partially significant effect on open innovation;2.Both knowledge absorptivecapacity and open innovation have a significant effect on innovational performance;3.Open innovation plays the partially mediating effect between the knowledgeabsorptive capacity and innovational performance. In conclusion, according to theactual situation of enterprises in China, the paper makes measures to help the firmsimplement knowledge absorptive capacity and open innovation.
