| Although the Republic of Uzbekistan, gained independence in1991, ranks rather high in terms of economics among the five Central Asian countries, its various industries and professions had been in predicament at the beginning stages of independence. After a reformation spanning more than20years, the economics of the country revived gradually; the government has initiated numerous projects in order to draw FDI and promote its domestic industries. Opening the construction market to attract technology/equipment advanced foreign contractors for participating in its domestic constructional works, Uzbekistan has brought great commercial opportunities for Chinese construction enterprises.Due to the unsoundness of the laws and regulations and the conservatism mind originated in the USSR era, the achievements of Chinese enterprises in Uzbekistan has not been very remarkable. Lacks of understanding of the unique discrepancies between Uzbekistan and China as well as the neglect of enterprise risk management are among the main reasons. China National Electric Engineering Co., ltd.(abbr. CNEEC) entered the constructional market of Uzbekistan in2002and since has completed five projects. The risk evaluations and evasions had been conducted at the early stages of the projects, as a result, the profits of these completed projects are comparatively considerable.This study briefly introduces the applied methodologies in risk evaluation and continues in listing a series of risk elements in risk identification for Chinese enterprises in Uzbekistan. Then it uses the CNEEC implementing projects as risk identification and analyses examples and has reached certain conclusions, and carries a discussion in risk evasion process consulting these conclusions. This study might be referenced for other Chinese enterprises aim at participating in the constructional market of Uzbekistan. |
