Its resource restructuringfunction is reflected in many aspects.In recent years, convention and exhibition industry in Xinjiang grew rapidly. To further push forwardXinjiang’s development, the central government decided to upgrade the19-year-old Urumqi ForeignEconomy and Trade Fair to China-Eurasia Expo. To host China-Eurasia Expo is a major strategic measurefor China to further expand frontier opening up and opening westward, accelerate the construction ofbuilding Xinjiang a bridgehead for China’s westward opening-up, and push forward Xinjiang’sleaping-forward development and long-term peace. As one of the highest profile exhibitions in China,China-Eurasia Expo catches high attention of all walks of life at home and abroad. The1st and2nd sessionsof the event realized the goal of being safe, successful, magnificent and satisfactory. The event gives fullrein to displaying Xinjiang’s new image of opening-up, harmony and development, expanding Xinjiang’srecognition at home and abroad and opening a new situation for Xinjiang’s opening-up. Hence, the Expo isa milestone gala. China-Eurasia Expo has become a bright name card for Xinjiang’s opening-up to thewest.As the only national-level, international exposition held in Xinjiang, China-Eurasia Expo is disparatewith other exhibitions in Xinjiang. The study on China-Eurasia Expo plays a window-role in the studies ofXinjiang’s convention and exhibition economy. As a leader of Xinjiang’s convention and exhibition economy, the people’s government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has made it clear thatChina-Eurasia Expo will be a driving force for Xinjiang’s exhibition economy. To analyze the promotingrole of the convention and exhibition economy to the economic and social development of Xinjiang,China-Eurasia Expo becomes a key subject of the study as it is a representative of Xinjiang’s conventionand exhibition economy. The essay analyzes the political, economic, cultural and social role of theChina-Eurasia Expo on the basis of its historical evolution and the elaboration of its background andsignificance of the launch of the event and expands on the promoting role of the China-Eurasia Expo toXinjiang’s economic and social development.
