As globalization is steadily progressing, all countries are aware of the importance of cooperation with other countries, and making an effort to strengthen their relationship bilaterally or multi-laterally, especially in economy and trade. After gaining independence in1953, Cambodia has focused on foreign investment as an important means to prosper its economy. In2008, the Cambodian government proposed the "four corners" strategy when its fourth government was established, and has put the strategy into action so far. The new strategy has encouraged foreign investments in key areas such as:innovative and high-tech industry, tourism industry, export-oriented industry, agricultural and agro-processing industry, infrastructural and energy industry. Meanwhile, China, under the guidance of the "going out" strategy, is looking for business opportunities in overseas markets. Cambodia and China has been in very strong relationship since a long history as early as in the Angkor era. The Strong political relation between Cambodia and China has laid a good foundation for their economic and trade exchanges. In the recent years, the two countries have exchanged their politics, and constantly increased their bilateral economy and trade. Currently, China has become the largest investor in Cambodia. With the establishment and gradual improvement of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, as well as the rapid development of economy between Cambodia and China, there are new opportunities of trade between the two countries. Therefore, I think that doing research in the current situation and problem of trade and economic development between Cambodia and China is very significant both in theory and practice. In the thesis, an overview of the investment environment in Cambodia is summarized based on the analysis of its natural, cultural, social and economic profile. On this basis, the article goes on with an overview of the course of trade and economic development in Cambodia, and further analyzes the formation, development and current status of the Cambodia-China economic and trade relations, and then come to the characteristics and existing problems in economy and trade between the two countries. There are four characteristics of economic and trade cooperation between Cambodia and China such as:imbalance, ccmplementariness, investment diversity, and good cooperative prospect. And in the process of bilateral cooperation, there are some existing problems such as: single-export product structure for Cambodia side, the insufficiency of agricultural cooperation, and the lack of communication between Chinese enterprises and local non-profit organization, etc. Finally, there are some suggestions for promoting the healthy development of economic and trade cooperation between Cambodia and China. Cambodia should strengthen the cooperation in fields such as agriculture, tourism, mining and energy. In addition, the two countries should bring forward the mutual complementary advantages to avoid competition.
