The research of business models has always been a hot point for academic andentrepreneurs since1990s, especially the ability of creating profits and value. With thedevelopment of Internet, e-business has become the focus of academic. In recent years,China has changed a lot, the economy has a large development, and the economicstructure has been more logical. Facing this, firms begin to find new ways, whichmany of them try to enter B2C field to make business model transaction. Due to thesituation, plenty of researchers have worked hard on the theory and classification ofbusiness models; however, the B2C business model in China has not formed asynthesized frame. Many B2C firms can’t find a useful way to develop, rather dependon the instinct of leaders, which will not survive sustainably in the mature industrylike B2C field.Owing to the phenomenon, based on the according theory of e-business model, thisarticle has come up with the design of B2C business model, and tries to optimize themodel. Firstly, this page summarizes the definition, key elements of business model,and proposes9key elements for B2C business model, including core competitiveness,value propositions, customer segments, channels, customer relationships, resourcesallocation, alliances, cost structure, and revenue streams. Besides, the nine elementshave been explained independently and integrated as a profitable logic. Secondly,after reviewing the B2C market, this paper probes the characteristics andshortcomings of B2C model, which will be the base of following outcomes. Thirdly,the right steps of designing a business model have been suggested, which arecustomer insights, ideation, visual thinking and prototype. This paper also designs apyramid structure that is a “3-6-9structure” for B2C business. The structure containsthree levels, and each level has some significant warnings.“6”stands for6necessarydecision making aspects to decide the9key elements for the foundation level. This article not only supplements the literature of B2C business model, but alsobuilds a systemic frame on the basis of summarizing the problems in the process ofB2C development. The author hopes this paper can make contribution to thefollowing academic, as well as firms in B2C industry.
