Owing to the rapid development, urban agglomerations in Pearl River Delta and Guangxi Beibu Gulf have become an important strategic platform for economic development of China. This thesis explores spatial structure differences between urban agglomeration in Pearl River Delta and Beibu Gulf on both sides of theoretical analysis and empirical demonstration. Firstly, this thesis holds that the evolution path of urban agglomeration is from single-center to multi-center, and then to network integration by simultaneously considering the theory of evolution path of the spatial structure of urban agglomeration. Based on the exploration of typical models of interaction theory, it chooses spatial interaction as its framework and model to analyze structure evolvement of urban agglomerations.Secondly, with comparative analysis of the mentioned city groups by node model and breaking point model, the author proves that urban agglomeration in Beibu Gulf is a single center, while urban agglomeration in Pearl River Delta is a multi-center and will develop into a network center.Thirdly, taking Guangzhou-Foshan integration as a typical example, this thesis focuses on the development trend of spatial interaction of urban agglomerations, and points out that this spatially agglomerated structure is relatively stable and not easily experiencing sudden changes. However, there exists a kind of internal interaction force which will gradually optimize the structure. Finally, the thesis explores the policy implications from the perspective of form, function and governance in order to make reference for future development and structure optimization of urban agglomeration, that is, strengthening agglomeration force, enhancing integration links and implementing joint governance.
