The Research On The Spatial Connection And Development Strategy In The Lanzhou-Xi'ning Urban Agglomeration

Under the background of globalization and information,urban agglomeration has gradually become a basic regional unit for the whole new country to participate in global competition and international division of labor.The Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the development of China's urban agglomerations,and regard the urban agglomeration as the main body to promote the new urbanization and the strategic core area of the national economic development.With the acceleration of urbanization,a single city is no longer able to meet the needs of the internal and external development of the city.The main body of competition between regions is becoming more and more group oriented,regional and cooperative.The Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is the core of Urban Agglomeration in upstream of the Yellow River,also is the area of economic and social development of Gansu Province and Qinghai Province.The Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is currently in the developing stage,facing many regional issues,such as infrastructure docking,population migration,industrial optimization and coordinated and so on.Strengthening the spatial connection is an important way to solve the bottleneck of development,and also an important measure to accelerate the cultivation in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration.This research based on related geographical theory,applies the city spatial interaction strength model and city flow intensity model,quantitatively measures the spatial connection degree and spatial hierarchy between cities,and reveals the main direction of spatial connection in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration.At the same time,combining the forming and developing mechanism of the spatial connection of the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration,this research puts forward the development strategy of improving the spatial connection.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Analysis of the development status.The Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is an important trans provincial urban agglomerations in the west China,and it is a regional urban agglomeration to protect the national ecological security and promote the balance of land development.The Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is in a certain condition of developing,and it has the more perfect foundation.But,compared with other urban agglomerations in the western China,there are many issue such as the overall development level is not high,the level of industrial development is not high,the central city driving ability is low,the external development level is low and so on.It is necessary to strengthen the spatial connection so as to improve the whole development level.(2)Analysis of the characteristics of spatial connection.Analyzing the spatial interaction between cities in among different cities in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration,we can see that the spatial interaction presents the characteristics: the central role of the core city is obvious,the spatial development of intercity interrelation intensity is not balanced and the spatial connection of provincial cities is weak.At the same time,the central cities play a limited role in promoting the radiation within the urban agglomeration.The aggregate ability of Lanzhou is larger than that of Xining,and the central position of Lanzhou is higher than that of Xining.Analyzing the city flow between cities,we find that Lanzhou and Xining are the central city,and their industrial agglomeration degree is far higher than other cities.The city flow intensity exists a huge advantage relative to other cities,which prove that the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is a dual core spatial structure.In addition,the Territorial Quotient of various cities shows an unbalanced development situation.In the future,the third industry should be vigorously developed to improve the external radiation function.Combining above analysis,the main direction of spatial connection in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration can be found.There are two aspects: one is the circle radiation to the surrounding of Lanzhou and Xining.The main connection cities of Lanzhou are Baiyin,Dingxi,Linxia and Tianzhu and the main connection cities of Xining are Haidong,Haibei and Heinan.Another is a traffic corridor along the eastwest axis,where the two central cities connect the surrounding cities to develop and is the region of the city flow concentration and spatial interaction frequently.(3)Analysis on the mechanism of forming and developing of spatial connection.The forming and developing of spatial connection in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration is the result of natural environment,traffic information,economy,social culture and politics and many other elements.And these elements play different roles in different historical periods and different regional backgrounds.(4)Analysis on the development strategy to improving the spatial connection.In order to improve spatial connection and enhance the overall development level in the Lanzhou-Xining Urban Agglomeration,some suggestion should be accepted.In the course of future development,we should actively foster the new regional growth pole while promoting the core functions of the central city.On the optimization and adjustment of industrial structure,we pay more attention to the development of service industry to strengthen the spatial connection between agglomeration and diffusion.In the space development strategy of urban agglomeration,the structure of two rings,two axes and multi points is constructed to promote the urban and rural integration development.On breaking the impediment of administrative barriers,we must give full play to the leading role of the government and establish a cross regional coordination mechanism to promote the strengthening of the spatial connection.
