Fujian Province’s urbanization and economic development has made great achievements andgradually catched up with the other eastern coastal provinces since the reform and opening up. Butthere still exists a wide gap comparing with them because of under the attack of the Yangtze RiverDelta and Pearl River Delta for a long time. It has a great significance to research whether itsurban scale structure is compatible with regional economic development. It will make a correctunderstanding on the status and future development of the city structural system in FujianProvince. With consulting the theory and literature about city-scale structure, this paper make asystematic study on the city-scale structural features and development process in Fujian Province. It uses the Primary Index, Rank-Size Rule, urban Gini Index to find small population scale, asmall number of metropolis limited population agglomeration and gentle growth way is the feature.Combined with location entropy and urban flow theory to measure and analyze the industrialstructure and economic functions, it finds the degree of economic agglomeration is so weak thatstrong radiation and influence can not be formed. The limited effect of the polarization of thecentral city urban scale structural systems, it is also weak on the most of the cities in the outwardsymbol of the modern service industry development level, not good to further reasonable systemformation of the urban scale structure. To achieve city scale structural system to be compatible with regional economic development, and play a more important role in the construction of the economic zone on the west side of theStraits. First of all it will make efforts to promote the construction and development of the largecities, share the scale economy and agglomeration effects of the metropolis, followed by a cleardivision of labor in the cities, to avoid homogeneous competition, vigorously develop the tertiaryindustry, and finally to improve infrastructure, particularly the improvement of transportationconditions.
