Optoelectronics industry of Xiamen has developed rapidly in recent years and hasbecome a pillar industry of the Xiamen City, which is a strategic emerging industry.The Optoelectronics industry plays an important role in promoting the developmentof the local economy in Xiamen area, so there is much important practicalsignificance to study the issues related to development of Xiamen’s Optoelectronicsindustry. This paper attempts to forecast future trends and discover the developmentlaws of Xiamen’s optoelectronics industry. By analyzing the key factors in thedevelopment process of Xiamen’s optoelectronics industry, it is intended to find outthe problems existing in the development of the optoelectronics industry, these willprovide a basis for the formulation of industrial development policy.From the perspective of industry competitiveness, this paper analyze factorsaffecting the development of the optoelectronics industry, and apply Grey RelationalAnalysis and Grey Relational Clustering to make empirical analysis of the data of thedevelopment of Taiwan’s optoelectronics industry, then pick out the factor indicatorswhich are critical to the development of the optoelectronics industry. Firstly, thispaper establishes a BP neural network forecasting model of Taiwan’s optoelectronicsindustry, under the premise of maintaining the neural network structure unchanged,and then builds the forecasting model of Xiamen’s optoelectronics industry afteradjustment based on the former BPNN model. In the meanwhile, there is comparativeanalysis of prediction performance between this new BPNN model and greyforecasting model (GM). Finally, we use the Mean Impact Value to explore theimpact strength of major factors influencing the development of Xiamen’soptoelectronics industry, and present targeted countermeasures to enhance thecompetitiveness of Xiamen’s optoelectronics industry.Through this study, we can draw the following key conclusions:(1)There issimilarity between the development process of the optoelectronics industry in Xiamenand that in Taiwan, following common regularity;(2) The newly established neuralnetwork forecasting model of Xiamen’s optoelectronics industry has very good prediction accuracy and has more advantages than the GM;(3) Foreign trade is themost important factor that influences the development of Xiamen’s optoelectronicsindustry, followed by the scientific and technical personnel. These conclusions willprovide useful guidance for formulation of development strategies of optoelectronicsindustry in Xiamen.
