Russia occupies a central position between two economic poles of the worldeconomy (the rich North and the poor South)–it is the country, actively involved inthe international migration process. On the one hand, Russians actively move intovarious countries of the world for living and earnings. On the other hand, theterritory of Russia has become attractive enough for migrants from less developedcountries of Asia and Africa. Besides, the part of migrants from “the third world”countries considers the territory of Russia as a staging point, an original transit zonefor the further migration to the economically developed countries of the West.In the system of modern global migration processes, Russia becomes a largehost country for two reasons: the territory of the country is not densely populated interms of economic development needs; there is a “population press” from somedensely-populated developing countries of the poor South. The effect of foreign labour migrations on economic development of Russiahas two sides. From one side, foreign labour migrations have a positive impact oneconomic development, it fullfill the countriy inner labour market with workers;reduse the population crisis;in the context of sustainable economic development, rationally adjust the distribution of population and labour force resources; promot eof Russian gross domestic product increased; increase all levels of government taxrevenue in Russia. From another side, foreign labour migration to Russia mainly have negativeimpact on the economic development: impact Russia’s local employment market; letcapital outflow abroad; make Russian local public resources overcrowded. If illegalimmigration increases, the phenomenon of non-controlled goods and servicesmarkets lead to formation and development of the underground economy.By efficiently monitoring foreign labor migration economic activity, reducingthe number of illegal immigrants, effectively manage Russia labour market, reformimmigration policies and improving the social security policy, we believe that theforeign labour migration effect to Russia’s overall economic development should bepositive, and can be improved. Moreover, Russia’s migration can be betterreserched.
