The historic districts tourism is an important part of today’s urban culturaltourism, and it is the root the sense of history, identity and belonging. In the year of2012, the "12th Five-Year Plan" of Yunnan Province made it clear that to give fullplay to the characteristics of Yunnan ethnic culture, history, culture, local culture andnatural resources, so as to enhance the development of the tourism industry, andprovides a good policy guidance and support of historic districts tourism development.Civilization Street Historic Districts is an important selection criteria of the historicaland cultural city, having the high historical and cultural value, but all the damagesuffered in the process of urbanization, making it the only remaining of the city ofKunming Street area. Therefore, rational and effective protection and development ofCivilization Street Historic Districts has become an important research topic.With the rapid development of China’s tourism industry, on the theory of urbanspace images of Kevin Lynch, tourism image has become to the new darling oftourism research, and have achieved some successes. On the basis of tourism image,and take the example of Kunming Civilization Street Historic Districts, the article hasthe research of tourism development in depth. Usually, the proper use of the newtheory may have unexpected results, this paper seeks to reveal further tourismdevelopment of Civilization Street Historic Districts.Through the five methods of tourism image, such as travel imagery interviews,traditional questionnaire survey, drawing a mind map, photo selection, this paper hasresearched tourism image of Civilization Street Historic Districts, the advantages andproblems of tourism image in emphasis, and put forward practical recommendationsto tackle the problems, in order to help the tourism development of Civilization StreetHistoric Districts. The specific contents are as follows:The first chapter is the paper’ introduction. Describing the background andsignificance of this study, followed by combing research ideas, analysis and description of the research methods, research framework, and the difficulties andinnovation is proposed to at the end of this chapter.The second chapter is the literature review of historic districts and tourism image,and it is the basic theory. First of all, domestic and foreign experts and scholars havedefined the concept of historic districts, and studied the relationship between thehistoric districts and tourism. Second, the article explains the connotation of tourismimage, research progress, and related researches. Third, a review of research on thehistoric districts and tourism image, and the result of the review is that the historicdistricts are a tourist hot research, however, there are few cases about application ofthe tourism image.The third chapter analyzing the background conditions of Civilization StreetHistoric Districts. Firstly, this chapter analyzes the overall profile of the historicdistricts of Kunming, to determine the scope of the study in accordance with the timeevolution. Secondly, this paper analyzes the general outline resources of theCivilization Street Historic Districts, and pointed out the necessity and possibility inTourism Development of Districts.The fourth chapter discussed the tourism image of the application of the methodin tourism development of Civilization Street Historic Districts, and it is a core part ofthis article. First of all, it uses five methods of tourism image, such as travel imageryinterviews, traditional questionnaire survey, drawing a mind map, photo selection toembodiment the the qualitative and quantitative study. Then there are the comparativeanalysis of the overall results,and obtained advantage and questions of blocks tourismimage.The fifth chapter is the research of tourism development of the KunmingCivilization Street Historic Districts which is based on tourism image, and it is thekey part of the article. According to the problems found by the fourth chapter, thischapter provides an implementation of the tourism development from the perspectiveof the five elements of the tourism image, in order to promote the protection anddevelopment of it, and enhance the brand of historical and cultural city. The sixth chapter is the conclusions and outlooks of this paper. This chaptersummarizes the tourism image’advantages and disadvantages of the CivilizationStreet Historic Districts in Kunming. Then there are the shortcomings in the paper’research, and hopes to gradually improve in future studies.
