| Peixian is a typical mining city in eastern China. Its mining industry has led torapid local economic development, social development and urban expansion sincethe late1970s. However, after thirty years’ intense mining, Peixian’s industrial andurban development is currently confronted with various problems, which requiresindustrial transition in the future. Hence this research aims to sort out the processand rules of Peixan’s spatial transformation, then find out suitable urban planningstrategies in Peixian’s future industrial transition. Due to the resemblance ofPeixian’s situation and that of other Chinese mining cities, this research could notonly provide guidance for Peixian’s sustainable development, but also provide areference to other mining cities. Peixian Urban Spatial Transformation Model isbuilt on the basis of Beijing Urban Development Model. Major influencing factorsin Peixian’s spatial transformation during industrial transition are selected as modelvariables, and model parameters are derived according to historical spatial data. Themodel accuracy reaches70%. Scenario analyses are conducted with the model, which include spontaneous development scenario, policy scenario and2011masterplan scenario. Guidance for policy making is drawn from simulation outcomes, which could help the implementation and realization of industrial transition planning. The model accuracy, functions and applications are also discussed. |
