Study On China’s Automotive Industry Innovation Mechanism And Process

Industry innovation is becoming a main driving factor for auto industry in China.Auto industry needs a coordinating push from enterprises, government departments anda plenty of agencies in society. In order to dig out the innovation principle of China’sauto industry, it’s necessary to do some empirical study on innovation mechanism andprocess based on the theory of sectoral system of innovation, both for theory andpractice.From the literatures review, we find that currently the studies for innovationmechanism and process are far from systematic and comprehensive. Besides, a big partof that is focus on the unit of enterprise, which is normally for technological innovation,but is rare for an industry perspective based on innovation system theory. This studyinherits the theory of sectoral system of innovation, looking into the innovationmechanism and process of China’s auto industry through practicing research. We triedvery hard to do some achievement for industry innovation theory and at the same timeoffer some benefits for the construction of China’s auto industry innovation system andcompetitiveness growing.By the way of literature review and expert interview, this study built up a theorymodel of innovation mechanism and process on the base of Marlerba’s innovationtheory. In that model, we divided innovation mechanism into three parts consisting offorcing mechanism, management mechanism and learning mechanism, and dividedinnovation process into three phases including accumulating process, transformingprocess and spreading process. In view of this model, we proposed16assumptions,which were tested by the method of questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics.After all above, we come to5conclusions for the study. First, forcing mechanismis the most directed power for pushing innovation inputs; second, managementmechanism is the main important supporting factor for auto industry innovation, widelyfor innovation inputs and outputs, organization and linkage capability; third, learningmechanism is a long-term process, which could promote innovation inputsfundamentally; forth, accumulating process has a big number of positive effect forauto-industry’s organization and linkage capability; fifth, transforming process is thecore of industry innovation, which is a necessary condition for innovation inputs and outputs. Taking into account of those conclusions, we put forward some policyrecommendations from the sight of innovation mechanism and process in the end.
