In the1970s,management guru Peter Drucker, who is the first to propose theconcept of a mission statement. In the past three decades, foreign scholars launched alarge number of studies on the relationship between the mission statement andorganizational performance, and had found that high quality mission statement haspositive significant effect on organizational performance. Currently, enterprises andacademic studies have generally focused on the exposition of significance and analysisof the elements of the mission statement, and gradually formed a scientific researchparadigm. Recent years, the quantity of studies on mission statement is gradually on therise, it has involved in various types of businesses, but is still lack of in-depth study of aspecific industry. Domestic mobile phone manufacturers, as representatives of thecommunications industry, has experienced nearly two decades of development, is stillunable to break through to the international state-of-the-art bottleneck. By comparingthe mission statement of the international mobile phone manufacturers, this article iscommit to looking for possible problems of the mission statement of the domesticmobile phone manufacturers, combined with relevant theoretical researches, hoping toprovide some reference value for the development of the domestic mobile phonemanufacturers.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part includes the first chapter and thesecond chapter which introduce the background and significances. By analyzing thestatus quothe of mission statement in Chinese corporate, to get the general issues ofmission statements in contemporary Chinese corporates, then reviewed the missionstatus quo of the domestic mobile phone manufacturers, put forward the basicassumption of this article.Explaining the theoretical basis of the research of thecorporate mission statement from the angle ofGoal-Setting theory, CorporateLifecycletheory and Corporate Culture theory.Combing through domestic andinternational corporate mission statements, systematicallyanalyzed of the concept andvalue of the corporate mission statement. The second part of the paper is the thirdchapter, which topic is mainly on selecting and comparative analyzing of the missionstatement of the domestic mobile phone manufacturers and international mobile phonemanufacturers to find the gap between the two. The third part is the fourth chapter, which is mainly depicting on the problems of the mission statement of the domesticmobile phone manufacturers, from the angles of normative expression, corporate imagebuilding, core elements missing; The fourth part is to explore the solution of theproblem of domestic mobile phone mission statement, it is recommended that SWOTanalysis, benchmarking, extraction of key elements,Corporate image design andmission management skills are some valued choices for solving the problems of missionstatement.
