Since the reform and opening up30years ago, China’s economic development hasseen remarkable achievements, and China’s wood based panel industry is no exception.Although this business started late, China is already the world’s largest producer andconsumer and the industry has become a traditional pillar industry of China’s economy.However, problems arise in the wood based panel industr’ys rapid development process,such as long-term development bottlenecks and constraints. How to make full use of theiradvantages to improve resource utilization, how to use strategic management to improvecompetitiveness in the market, how to build brand through resource integration and toimprove the industry overall competitive advantage, etc. are urgent issues need to beaddressed for future development of China’s wood based panel industry.The thesis adopts the theory of strategic management and strategic modeling tools asanalyzing basis, and analyzes problems that arise during the current rapid development ofChina’s wood based panel industry environment with the assistance of PEST model,Porter’s ifve forces competitive model analysis, and SWOT analysis. Research conclusionis drawn by suggestions from the perspective of resource integration and brand buildingmeasures regarding the implementation of the development strategy for China’s woodbased panel industry.This thesis is composed of ifve chapters. Chapter One is Introduction, which describesthe research background, significance, and purpose of the study, explains the content andresearch methodology of the study, and summarizes former research concerning woodbased panel industry at home and abroad. Chapter Two is an overview research of China ’swood based panel industry, which brielfy introduces the general situation, the course ofdevelopment and the status quo of the wood based panel industry, and summarizes theoverall situation of wood based panel industry. Chapter Three is analysis of the strategicmodel and related problems of China’s wood based panel industry. This chapter outlinesthe strategic management theory, focuses on the PEST model through strategic environmental analysis, Porter’s ifve forces model of competitive analysis, and SWOTanalysis tools, etc. to carry out an in-depth analysis of problems, and corresponding rootcauses that arise in the rapid development of China’s wood based panel industry. ChapterFour is suggestions put forward on the future development of China’s wood based panelindustry. This chapter relies on previous analysis and strategic modeling tool based on thestatus quo of the industry, discusses the feasibility of the proposed development strategyfor China’s wood based panel industry, and outlines the implementation process of thisindustry. Chapter Five is Summary, which concludes the research results of this thesis, listsdifficulties encountered during research process and points out inadequacies and possibleimprovements in future studies.
