Food is the material basis of human survival, which is directly related to public healthand the country’s economic and social stability.In recent years, China’s food safetyincidents occur frequently, causing widespread concern at home and abroad. How to solvefood safety problem and ensure that the public can eat safe, healthy food has become at ainevitable challenge in the process of social management. Public participation has becomean important way in food security crisis management.Although The Chinese governmenthas recognized the necessity of public participation, and taken some relatively effectivemeasures and methods, fundamentally still can not come out of "versatile" governmentmanagement models.The role of public involvement in food safety regulatory can not toundertaken. Therefore, how to give full play to the role of participation in food safetysupervision is to be solved.In this study, based on the literature review, and we find out the situation of publicparticipation in food safety crisis management through questionnaires, summed theproblem of public participation in China’s food safety crisis management.On the base oflearning the experiences of developed countries, put forward the correspondingcountermeasures and suggestions, including Strengthen the sense of civic participation incrisis, Increase public participation in crisis management capabilities, Build public theinformation communication mechanism of participation in food safety crisis management,Establish Incentive system of public participation, Establish relevant legal protection ofpublic participation in food safety crisis management.Finally, we point out theinadequacies of existing and future research directions in this paper.
