With the increase of China’s electricity demand year by year, higher requirements both for technology and quality are raised for power electric equipment.Traditional switchgear new product introduction (NPI) projects are usually dominated by technical team, coordination between cross function teams are difficult. The whole NPI process is almost based on experience, project quality management tools rarely are applied, which will result in long time, high cost, deviation between product and marketing requirements, lead to repeat invest new projects to catch the gap, lower marketing competitiveness, etc. This article started from analysis of new product introduction process, project team organizational structure and responsibilities, and application of quality management tools, analyzed the current situation of A company switchgear new product introduction project quality management, identify the problems, make improvement for the NPI process and project team organizational structure, introduce Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FEMA) tools.
