A Research On Social Security Problems Of Migrant Workers

Accompanying with the transformation to industrialization and urbanization in China these years, the migrant workers have developed to be a special group. Since the reform and opening-up, more and more migrant workers move to cities, join city construction, create wealth, make great contribution to the prosperity and development of cities. Migrant workers play a pivotal role in the development of the urban economy; meanwhile, they have no social security and endure more risks. Though the problem has been concerned with most social sectors and correlative regulations have been prescribed by governments, migrant workers have not enjoyed due social rights yet, for several reasons, such as the effect of real life and history, and the limitation of lift styles, economic conditions and traditional thinking,In view of this condition, I make a case study of Zhangzhou and surveyed the social rights and insurance of the migrant workers who worked in private enterprise in Zhangzhou, Fujian, mastered the first-hand materials, through the questionnaires survey, in-depth interviews and discussion etc. Further more, I access to relevant theories at home and abroad, based on it, I analyzed the situation and reasons in the paper, proposed the relevant suggestion and solutions to protect and improve thenir social insurance and rights under the background of national policy, and hope it could be a supplement to the improvement of social insurance and rights to migrant workers.The full text is divided into three parts:Part I mainly introduces the background, goal and purpose, sorted out some concepts related to the social insurance of migrant workers and the study situation at home and abroad. Part II introduced the situation and the degree to implement the social insurance and rights for migrant workers in the private enterprise in Zhangzhou City based on the first-hand materials I mastered from this investigation, and points out the exiting problems during the process to implement the social insurance and rights. Part III proposes the solutions and suggestions to the social insurance and rights for migrant workers according to the issues come up above. Migrant workers are the product of China’s reform and opening up, the main force of urbanization, the important carrier of the integration of urban and rural areas, they contribute to the prosperity and development of countries and social; meantime, they should enjoy the results of reform and opening up. To improve the migrant workers’ social security, protect their legitimate rights, impartiality of society will be manifested finally.
