Modern economic growth theory advocated that human capital plays a direct rolein promoting economic growth as one of the inputs of production factors, Moreover, itenhances the absorption, utilization and innovation of the new technologies, whileinnovation of new technologies is the only factor in long-term economic growth. Therefore, this article attempts to combine technology absorption, utilization andinnovation with human capital, and to investigate the driven source of economicgrowth from the theoretical analysis and empirical studies aspects, especially, weintroduce technology absorption, independent innovationin under the traditionalanalysis framework, in an attempt to build the human capital threshold and spatialeffects model for regional economic growth.Firstly, we introduce the research background and significance of the article, thedomestic and foreign related research of human capital, technology progress andeconomic growth, then we outline the important theories and models in the theory ofhuman capital, technology progress and economic growth which are the basis forstudying the relationships of human capital, technological progress and economicgrowth in China. Next we analyze the theory research on the human capital thresholdand spatial effects for regional economic growth, and further expand the mechanismof human capital threshold and spatial effects for regional economic growth. Thirdly, taking the impact factors of economic growth as the core, by studying the impact ofhuman capital to technology absorption and independent innovation, we get ourhuman capital threshold effects on economic growth, the empirical results show thatour technology absorption as well as independent innovation have different humancapital threshold, human capital is more suitable for technology absorption andindependent innovation when it exceeds the human capital threshold, while themajority of the provinces in China has reached the human capital threshold oftechnology absorption, but only a small part of the province reached the humancapital threshold of independent innovation. Then, based on the research results ofeconomists, through the introduction of institutional factors, we establish theinstitutional spatial matrix, and studied the space effect of Beijing, Liaoning, Jiangsu,Guangdong, and Gansu, the research results shows that there is the existence ofspatial dependency among the economic growth of the five provinces, and the mutual positive impact. The fourth part, we conclude the main conclusions of this articlebelow:China has the minimum thresholds of technology absorption and independentinnovation, and there are significant differences in the human capital when regions aredifferent;FDI will produce more obvious technology spillovers effects when itcombines with medium levels of human capital, while R&D will produce moreobvious independent innovation effects when it combines with higher levels of humancapital;Economic growth in the five regional has spatial dependency, the mutualpositive impact. Finally, by analyzing the conclusions, we got the policyrecommendations of this article.
