For a long time, the view of "shareholder first" has guided enterprises to producemany short-term behaviors. Under global economic integration, the society stronglyurges the enterprises to play the role of citizen that positively commits to multi-stylecorporate social responsibilities. The first international social responsibility standardof ISO26000was released in Geneva on November,2010, which marked theenterprise management had gone into the CSR phase. Actively fulfilling their ownsocial responsibilities had become the common choices for economic organizations.The issue of CSR has attracted more and more attention. This article hopes toanswer three unavoidable and important questions: whether a company should fulfilltheir social responsibilities? What is the relationship of CSR and enterpriseperformance? How to balance the relationship?In the theoretical part, this article took the CSR theory, stakeholder theory andERG theory as the basis for in-depth analysis, elaborated the relationship in the viewof five hypotheses between CSR and enterprise performance, analyzed the impact ofCSR on enterprise performance from external effects and multi-dimensionalperspective, analyzed the impact of enterprise performance on CSR from the positiveand negative aspects, then this article came to the conclusion: CSR contributed theenhancement of enterprise performance, and enterprise performance conditions affectthe performance of CSR. The empirical results show that: there was a significantpositive correlation between CSR and corporate performance, mutual promotion,mutual influence; the social responsibility of the enterprise to shareholders, creditors,government and community with corporate performance has a significant positivecorrelation, and the relationship between the social responsibility of the enterprise toSuppliers, employees and corporate performance was not significant, so differentdimensions of corporate social responsibility have different effects on corporateperformance. Therefore, this article constructed the CSR management frameworkfrom the angle of strategy, practice, management etc. to help enterprises achieve avirtuous circle of CSR and business development.
