Income inequality has become one of the most attention topics in today’s international society. And in China which has experienced30years of reform and opening up, China international sidelong glance is not only a booming economy. Pushing forward the democratic political process, the unprecedented prosperity of socialist culture, and, there is also the question of income distribution gap is widening existing. Make a big cake, in short, is not easy, however, distribute the cake is also the highlight of our work. To observe the distribution in the cake we need an appropriate measure allocation method. Both in international scholars and ordinary people at home, giving great interest income distribution problems, it also makes the income gap is becoming a hot spot of academic circles in recent years. With the income distribution gap is the focus of academic research, how to accurately measure the income distribution gap and reflect it is also gradually become the focus of debate. There is a special problem in China’s income distribution gap. Vast territory, large population and the strict urban-rural dual structure and such basic national condition determines that China’s income gap can’t be just like the European and American countries measured by an index or a method to calculate. In this paper, the main work is mainly focus on research to measure China’s income distribution gap method, and compare and summarize the method in measuring the pros and cons of residents’income gap in our country. According to the existing data, we will try to measure our country residents’income distribution gap in the gini coefficient, the income ratio between urban and rural areas, thiel entropy index ways. This paper structure is as follows:The first chapter is an introduction to research, and points out that the study on income distribution gap in China necessity and innovation of this article. The second chapter expounds research income distribution gap between literature review and the research situation of the income gap in our country. And we introduced the present status of the income distribution gap in China and China’s income gap calculation deviation. In the third chapter we mainly introduced the methods of income distribution gap. And we found that the gini coefficient is a international mainstream method in measuring of income distribution gap of the group. Thiel index is the preferred way in measuring the income gap between groups because of its excellent decomposition. The fourth chapter is mainly about the empirical. In this chapter we use the data from the national bureau of statistics statistical yearbook, rural internal calculation in our country from2002to2011and1997-2011urban internal gini coefficient. We use the thiel index to measure the income gap between urban and rural areas in2002-2011; the income gap between the eastern, western and central area in our country in2011. Contrast research department of China national gini coefficient calculation results at last.Chapter5is summary and prospect, and points out that the internal gini coefficient is a measure of China’s rural, urban internal and quality indexes of the residents income distribution gap and the practical calculation method. Looking part is the hope for China’s urban and rural integration of statistical process and data processing.
