Sichuan and Chongqing is the most important economic regions in western China, these two places play a vital role in the economic development of western China. Our Country in May2011pass the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone regional planning which mentioned the importance of economic development in Sichuan and Chongqing, and the coordination of these two places to another level. Based on the importance of the economy of Sichuan and Chongqing, and the author’s previous research of Sichuan and Chongqing which reveal some problems of economic development in Sichuan and Chongqing, this article will select the problems of economic development in Sichuan and Chongqing to do In-depth study. The choice of research content is highly targeted. The study of the economic development in Sichuan and Chongqing based on macro analysis. The overall economic situation, the industry conditions and the will be researched and compared with eastern region of China. The research purposes are to find the main contribution points and the bottleneck in the development of the economic development of Sichuan and Chongqing and to explore the path of coordinated economic development of Sichuan and Chongqing.The study of this paper is based on the unbalanced development theory in the regional development theory, the unbalanced development theory "inverted U"-type theory applied to the empirical model. Based on this economic theory, the study of this paper will do some multi-level research. First, study the Regional GDP of Sichuan and Chongqing. Second, study the per capita GDP in Sichuan and Chongqing. Last, study the industrial structure of these two places. Both horizontal comparison and longitudinal comparison will be used in the study.
