The Effect On Justice Elements Of The Authority Trustiness In Risk Information

Risk message is the carrier of risk communication between risk managers andinformation receivers. The ultimate purpose of risk communication is to improveunderstanding of risk and build trust between the parties, and the public trust in risk managers,called the authority trustiness. Justice is an important concept decided the interaction betweenthe parties in the process of risk communication, justice in the risk information, It’sresponsible attitude for managers to show themselves in the risk problem, and it is animportant basis to infer the managers intention for receivers, it can be summarized as the factorientation and relationship orientation. To explore whether the risk message that include theelements of justice can improve the trust in authority of public or not; when people receivingthe risk message, their cognitive framework for different events held by the features of justiceelements; the following two experiments were designed, and we assessed the material of riskbefore the experiment been carried out.Study1investigated justice elements of risk information affect for trust in authority inthe individual events and social events. With "the school canteen food safety events" as anindividual event,"XXX milk imported raw materials contain e. coli incident" as a social event,information publisher are school logistics department and XXX company. Present riskinformation which correspond subjects justice elements, then got participants authoritytrustiness. Results showed: the event type combined with justice elements affect trustauthority; risk information of personal events should be the more embodiment of therelational orientation; risk information of the social event should be reflected orientation;the impartiality conveyed by risk managers were the main reason that lead to trust in authorityin the individual events and social events.Study2investigates justice elements of risk information affect trust in authority underhigh and low self-correlation situation. Adopt "the selfheal events" as risk events, informationpublishers is their risk managers respective, the "provincial food safety commission". Highand low autocorrelation is activated through sentence:"do you often buy and drink" and "youknow but didn’t buy and drink". Present risk information which correspond subjects justiceelements, then got participants authority trustiness. Results showed: high self-correlationgroups are more willing to trust in authority than the low self-correlation group; riskinformation of the fact and relationship orientation were high, both of them were optimal; riskinformation of lower self-correlation should also reflect the fact and relationship orientation; fairness of high self-correlation risk events were a major cause of lead to the authoritytrustiness in public.Conclusion:(1) risk information of personal events should be the embodiment of therelational orientation;(2) risk information of the social event should be reflected orientation;(3) the impartiality conveyed by risk managers was the main reason that lead to the authoritytrustiness in the individual events and social events.;(4) high self-correlation groups weremore willing to trust in authority than the low self-correlation group;(5) risk information ofthe fact and relationship orientation were high were optimal;(6) risk information of highself-correlation should also reflect the fact and relationship orientation;(7) risk information oflower self-correlation should reflect the fact orientation and relationship orientation at thesame time, not only reflect relations orientation.
