Therefore, the development of the equipment manufacturing industry plays a key role in the going forward of country’s industrialization process, the revitalization and development of the equipment manufacturing industry has a great role in promoting our country economic development and modernization process.Located in the west of the Pearl River Delta, the City of Jiangmen currently has initially formed a large number of characteristic industrial clusters, such as urban motorcycle and spare parts manufacturing, and Daao Town’s container manufacturing and etc.. The development and growth of industrial cluster has made a great contribution for the economic development of Jiangmen City, with the provincial and municipal levels of government increased efforts to support for the equipment manufacturing industry, the equipment manufacturing industry in Jiangmen City has become a new driving force of stimulating industrial economic growth. Under this background, to research and clearly judge the upgrade route of the equipment manufacturing industry in the Jiangmen City becomes extremely important.In this paper, on the basis of the regional industrial upgrading and equipment manufacturing related theory, taking the equipment manufacturing industry of Jiangmen City as the research object, using the SPSS statistical analysis software, comprehensively and thoroughly research the existing problems during the development process of the equipment manufacturing industry in Jiangmen, and propose the industry upgrade path of the advanced equipment manufacturing industry in Jiangmen. Firstly, on the basis of elaborating the advanced equipment manufacturing industry connotation, classification and status, introduce the current development status of the equipment manufacturing industry in Jiangmen City, make a detailed analysis and research on the economic conditions and social foundation of the Jiangmen City developing advanced equipment manufacturing industry; And then, with the angle of industrial upgrading, from two aspects of qualitative and quantitative to analysis the advanced equipment manufacturing industry status quo in Jiangmen City, construct out the industrial upgrading evaluation index system, and as a standard to judge Jiangmen City is in line with or not the development of advanced equipment manufacturing industry.
