Research On The Influencing Factors Of Chongqing Equipment Manufacturing Industry Upgrading Under Global Value Chain

With the deepening influence of the global value chain theory, the equipmentmanufacturing industry of Chongqing has made great achievements. However, at thesame time, we should also clearly recognize that, the equipment manufacturing industryof Chongqing is still in the low-level of the GVC. The equipment manufacturingdepartment as the core of the national economy and industry, realizing its upgrading isan important part of accomplishing industrial transformation.However, after a large number of domestic and foreign literature research, wefound that the research on industry upgrade of equipment manufacturing in the westernregion of China is very rare. Most of them regarding the eastern region and the oldindustrial base in Northeast China as the research object and lacking of investigationfrom dynamic perspective. Researches are still lack of mature analysis framework,scattered and without systematic. In addition, the qualitative analysis research method isin the majority. The quantitative analysis tools and methods are rarely used. This paperanalyzes the equipment manufacturing industrial upgrading process, conditions in theglobal value chain framework, proposing6factors which may influence the upgrade.Through the research hypothesis, empirical test, we find that, different factors havedifferent affection on the upgrade level.The paper studied the industrial upgrading level of the manufacturing industry inChongqing from1999to2011, measuring the degree of change. The results showed thatindustry upgrading in1999-2011years had been increasing year by year. Using linearregression method, this paper analyzed the six kinds of influencing factors: enterpriseinnovation, technology dissemination and diffusion, human capital, industrialagglomeration effect, open degree, the development of producer services. The resultsshow that technology dissemination and diffusion, industry agglomeration effect, thedevelopment of productive service industry has significant positive effect on industrial upgrading, the others are not. The conclusions of this article have significant referencemeanings on the transformation and upgrading process of current equipmentmanufacturing industry of Chongqing.
