| The feminization and aging of agriculture is a phenomenon reported to be occurringthroughout the world. China also has to face the pressure of the feminization and agingwith the tremendous push of labor into the off-farm market. It is an important issue to improveaged and female rural labor’s knowledge of agricultural production. It is a question thatwhether feminization and aging would reduce grain output and threat to food security. The first part had introduced classical theories and concepts of the urbanization and work force transfer.Because of the tremendous push of labor into the off-farm market, contradictions become increasinglyprominent between continued rapidly grow agricultural products demand and agricultural labor forcestructural. Therefore, in order to ensure that the agricultural labor force shift employment and foodsecurity, we need to do a good job of synchronous advancing urbanization and agriculturalmodernization,This paper use the data from questionnaire survey of rice farmers in Anhui province.Anhui Chaohu and Tianchang are the main rice production area, at the same time, they alsohave fairly representative on the terrain. This paper describes the farmers employmentcondition in Anhui province as well as the present situation of the aging and feminizationproblem, and then from four aspects about rice cultivation techniques, soil management, pest control, environmental protection systematically analyzed the agriculturalfeminization and aging problem. Finally analysis the agricultural feminization and agingpopulation problem impact on agricultural production through the empirical.Using household data, we examine the current status of feminization and aging holdagriculture technology from four aspects. We find that women accounted for44.6%, fiftyyears old man accounted for54%in sample region’s farm labor. Women are more lack ofknowledge and information on crop than men. Meanwhile, the aged have great advantagein cultivation techniques based on production experience though it is a little worse in pestcontrol and environmental protection.Agricultural feminization and aging is both challenge and opportunity. On one hand, ourcountry needs to stage a series of agricultural technical knowledge training focus onleft-behind women and the old, at the same time actively guide professional farmers’education. On the other hand, in order to keep the sustainability of agriculturaldevelopment. We need to formulate incentive polices for food production systems andimplement land circulation polices and what’s the most important, control the chemicaland fertilizer sales link. |
