The innovation of start-ups strongly depends on social network due to "resources poverty", so it has important realistic significance to study the relationship between different types of cooperation networks and innovation performance, as well as the determinants of the social network. In the current study, most studies regards mature enterprise as research object, analyses the effect of the social network structure and relationship on innovation activities, but less scholars research the impact cooperation network formed from different types of partners on innovation activities. In addition, most of the existing research regards enterprise social network as a set of exogenous factors, few of them analyze its determinants, especially less research on the determinants of social network analysis from the personal perspective of the founder or entrepreneur. However, the founder often has a more central role in start-ups, their personal resources and personality characteristics must be is inextricably bound to social networks and innovation performance.Therefore, in order to deeply reveal the influence mechanism of social network for start-ups on innovation and the determinants of social network, the project mainly puts start-ups as object, focusing on the impact of different types of cooperation network on innovation performance, analysis action mechanism of the founder’s personal resources and personality characteristics to the social network, and on this basis, further study of the intermediary role of the social network between founder and innovation performance.The results show that founder’s human capital and personality characteristics dimension including achievement motivation, risk orientation, locus of control, extraversion and agreeableness have a significantly positive influence on the social network; The social network has a significantly positive influence on innovation performance; the social network plays a total intermediary role between founder’s human capital and personality characteristics (risk orientation, locus of control and extraversion) and innovation performance, and it also plays a partial intermediary role between founder’s achievement motivation trait and innovation performance. The conclusion deepens the understanding about the relationships between founder’s personal resources and personality characteristics, the social network and innovation performance. It reveals the impact mechanism of the founder’s personal resources and personality traits, social network and innovation performance, provides an important theoretical reference for shaping founder’s personal resources and personality characteristics in the development model of enterprise networking, therefore, this study has important theoretical and practical significance.
