With the rapid development of science and technology, in the context of global economic integration, the technological innovation is emerging constantly. And then the external environment faced by enterprises has undergone great changes. That leads to the upstream and downstream of the vertical boundary and industry relations have changed dramatically. Based on a static environment to study the corporate boundary, the traditional theory has significantly shown insufficient of the explanatory power in a changing environment. Therefore, this subject research will undoubtedly have important theoretical and practical significance, which, on the basis of the existing theories, further study has an impact of technological innovations on the vertical boundaries of the enterprise. On the basis of existing research results, this paper divides technology innovation into four different types by using of the Henderson and Clark’s innovative classification learning. And based on capacity theory of enterprises, it studies the impact of different types of innovation on enterprise capabilities, and enterprise internal and external environment altering its transaction costs and coordination costs. In various innovation cases, these changes produce different vertical disintegration and vertical integration of incentives. By analysis of what eventually happens to the vertical boundary of enterprises caused by these two incentives in each type of innovation, the theoretical assumptions of this paper are proposed. With the sample data of manufacturing enterprises in Liaoning Province collected through the questionnaire and analyzed through reliability analysis, validity analysis and principal component analysis, this paper uses the principal component analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and so on to be an empirical test on theoretical assumptions. The basic conclusion of this paper can be drawn:in the case of incremental innovation, the degree of vertical integration of enterprises will not have significant changes; in the case of modular innovation, it will decline; however, in the case of structured and radical innovation, it will increase.
