After18years of difficult negotiations, Russia finally obtained formal approvalto join the WTO on December16,2011.After the WTO accession, Russia will followits commitments and carry out reforms to further lift tariff and non-tariff barriers,open up its market, and cut off price gaps on oil and gas between foreign anddomestic markets, all of which will have a significant impact on Sino-Russianbilateral trade. We can see, China has become Russia’s largest trading partner. Interms of trade in goods, China and Russia are highly complementary, and it saw acontinuous high-speed growth in recent years. Meanwhile, trade of services betweenthe two countries has maintained a good momentum. But there are still problems inbilateral trade. The two sides focused on too narrow categories of goods. Their tradein services based on traditional industries, rather than some modern sectors. What’smore, mutual investment is limited. Russia’s accession to the WTO will expandopportunities for extending Sino-Russian trade. On the other hand, its accessionindicates that the two sides must overcome the existing problems on bilateral trade toachieve a win-win situation in the long term.The entire paper is divided into five parts: Introduction described thebackground and significance of this study, the research status arrangements with thethesis framework and research methodology; the first chapter briefly describes theprocess of Russia’s WTO accession, and comparative analysis of China’s entry intoWTO, and major commitments of Russia’s accession to the WTO; the secondchapter summarizes the development of bilateral trade between China and Russia,including the bilateral trade volume, trade structure and trade analysis of the characteristics and existing problems; Chapter III analysis the way of Russia’saccession to the WTO impacts on bilateral economic and trade, mainly divided intotwo parts, the positive influence and negative influence, finally analyze the effect ofRussia’s accession to the WTO to specific trade goods, such as automobile industryand energy industry. The forth chapter is the concluding part of the thesis thatChina’s strategy to Russia’s accession to the WTO.Russia is one of the world’s largest area of transition economies, the hugemarket potential in today’s world market structure gradually emerged as one of theemerging markets to Western countries and multinational concern and contention.Develop Sino-Russian trade relations, proactively analyze Russia’s multifacetedimpact to the economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia, and thusprepared in advance, seize opportunities, meet challenges, has important practicalsignificance to promote China’s steady economic growth, strengthen the economy ofNortheast Asia collaboration, to adapt to globalization, to realize the maximization ofnational interests.
