The Research On The Public’s Attitude To Science Technology And The Influencing Factor

Base on the1071survey data from Chongqing,Taizhou, Yichang, this paper describe the current situation of the public attitude towards science and technology, which including fancy for science career, scientific and technological view, interest for science and attention to technological controversy. And then this paper analyzes the factors that affect the public attitude towards science and technology by establishing the Logistic regression model.Research shows that70.3%of the public adore science careers, hold a positive attitude on science and technology development, recognize the important role of science and technology in social development, and possess strong environmental consciousness. The public’s interest in science and technology and attention to technological controversy both are comparatively low.Based on the logistic regression model, this paper found that personal characteristics, family economic level, living area, activity to popularize scientific knowledge and social trust have significant effect to the public’s attitude to science and technology.1) Adore science careers, the older you get, the lower income level, the higher the trust for the scientists, the public will be the higher affinity for science careers;2) Scientific and technological view. Higher levels of education, higher family economic level and higher trust for the scientists, the public is more inclined to positive technological view. Smaller Age, higher income level and lower education level, the public is more inclined to conservative technological view. A lower education level, higher family economic level and higher level of trust in government departments the public is more inclined to eco-technological view. Higher level of education, higher trust for the scientists, he public is more inclined to pro-environmental view.3) Interest in science and technology, higher level education, higher trust for the scientists, the public’s interest in science and technology is higher.4) Attention to technological controversy, higher family economic level and higher trust for the scientists, the public attention to technological controversy is higher. In addition, this paper also found that different gender, occupation, living area and popular science activities circumstance, there are also significant difference between public’s attitude to science and technology.
