Study On Economic Benefit Of Sericulture In ZheJiang Province

As Zhejiang occupied an important position in the history of development of sericulture industry,it is still one of the main producing areas in China.However,with the economic development in Zhejiang,rural industrialization and urbanization process is accelerated,traditional sericulture industry has been affected significantly, the scale of sericulture is falling,sericulturist’s enthusiasm abating,the sericulture industry in Zhejiang is shrinking.In view of this situation,to stable mulberry area and sericulture scale is the most direct measure,but it is treating the symptoms and not the cause.Sericulturist is the basic condition for sericulture,so how to increase their production and income is the key to maintain the stability of the sericulture industry.Therefore,the paper takes the economic benefit of sericulture as object,raising economic benefit of sericulturist as purpose.Based on the cost-benefit theory and comparative advantage theory,the paper discusses the problems we are facing in the process of sericulture,analyzes the economic benefits and factors of sericulture in Zhejiang.and puts forward countermeasures to promote the stability of sericulture industry in Zhejiang.First,the paper analyzes the production situation and comprehensive comparative advantage of sericulture,it shows that although the sericulture industry in Zhejiang is shrinking,but it is still an irreplaceable main producing areas in China,it has the better production conditions in the country and the province.The solid industrial foundation can provide safeguard for the development of sericulture industry.Second,the paper analyzes the economic benefits of sericulture in Zhejiang from macroscopic perspective,it shows that the sericulture’s economic benefits changes with the cost and cocoon price,and cocoon prices makes great difference,the influence from costs is mainly reflected in the flowing:high payment of working day has helped to drive up the labour costs,high production material prices have helped to drive up the material and service costs,scarcity of land has helped to drive up the land costs.In addition,on the basis of comprehensive comparative advantage analyzed before,this part adds the comparative analysis of economic benefits,it shows that the labour productivity of sericulture in Zhejiang is higher compared with other sericulture main producing provinces,but the profit-to-cost ratio is lower because of the raising labour costs and land costs.Due to the mechanization of cocoon production is low,so the labour productivity of cocoon is lowest of all compared agricultural commodities,and its high investment and high risk have not brought the high yield,the profit-to-cost ratio has no advantage.Third,the paper analyzes the economic benefits of sericulture in Zhejiang from microscopic perspective,we can find the minutest but the most direct issues through the analysis of production and operation of sericulturist,it is helpful to put forward countermeasures to the point.Moreover,this part proposes two production patterns of sericulture including small-scale scattering management and co-operative management,then this part analyzes the economic benefits of sericulturist in different production patterns,it turns out that the sericulture co-operative can increase the economic benefits obviously,and it should be supported and popularized.Finally,as a consequence of the aforementioned analyses,the paper proposes some relevant measures to increase the economic benefits of sericulture in aspects of government’s support and sericulturist’s cooperation.
