| China’s financial industry opens to the world comprehensively since the end of2006in accordance with WTO commitments. The influx of foreign banks not onlybring advanced financial concepts, but also make domestic banks facing more andmore competition. In order to respond to the rapid change of market environment,changing their traditional business process becomes the domestic banks’ first choice.Learning from international commercial banking practices, domestic commercialbanks begin to carry out counter business of separation of front-office and back-officewith the help of advanced IT technology. As one of the five state-owned commercialbanks, Construction Bank is the first one which promotes the implementation ofcounter service before and after separation in all nationwide outlets since2006andhas achieved significant results.The paper first analyzed the present situation of Construction Bank’s counterservice and the practices of the domestic and foreign banks’ counter business ofseparation of front-office and back-office; Secondly, this paper discussed the specificmodel and process design; Moreover, the paper empirically analyzed the applicationof counter business of separation of front-office and back-office around the Hunanbranch of China Construction Bank, and the survey showed the following results: boththe client and the bank workers were satisfied with the promotion of the new process,because it significantly increased the time of marketing service for the customers anddecreased the amount of the transaction accounting for the workers after theapplication of counter business of separation of front-office and back-office, however,what can’t be ignored is that the new process has also brought changes in the riskcontrol point. Finally, the paper proposed in detail how to promote the commercialbank’s counter service of separation of front-office and back-office effectively andhas introduced some measures to prevent the risk when promoting the new process. |
