With the competition in the automotive market becoming incresingly fierce,growth trends of Automobile profit slowdown. Automobile manufacturers anddistributors gradually focus on After sales service, The profit contribution fromaftermarket occupy an increasing proportion of overall profits in automotivecompanies. Sales of automobile spare parts in the automotive industry has become thelargest source of profits. With the continuous development of the automotive market,Demand for aftermarket spare parts of automotive is also expanding. China’sautomobile spare parts market has showed great potential. Spare parts can be dividedinto two types, maintenance spare parts and after sales service spare parts.maintenance spare parts is researched more at home and abroad currently, Researchin the field of service parts very little, Therefore, the study of automotive service partsinventory management is very meaningful.Spare parts inventory management is very complex, it directly affects customersatisfaction, and customer satisfaction has a direct impact on corporate brand image.In this paper, we get the automotive industry as background to research the Inventorymanagement of Spare Parts in F company. There’re a wide range of automotive spareparts, as models continue to enrich, the type of spare parts is still increasing. Theinventory management of spare parts has brought a certain amount of challenges andproblems. Through investigating Spare Parts Inventory Management of F company,we analyze the existing problems in the management of spare parts and what causesthis condition. At last, we propose appropriate countermeasures.Firstly, this paper Introduces the research background and the currently status ofF company, we use the modern inventory management theory and propose a newmethod to classify the spare parts. This solved the problem that previous classificationis not careful and unfocused.On the basis of analysis and research of essence oftraditional classification methods, and the advantages and disadvantages, Combiningthe characteristics of automobile spare parts, we classify the Spare parts formulti-level classification. Which improves the current state of inventory classification.Secondly, choosing different strategies for the different types of spare parts, According to the characteristics of spare parts, we adopt targeted control measures.Finally, we analyze the application of three forecasting methods, which is movingaverage forecasting method, Secondary exponential smoothing forecastingmethod,Winter linear and seasonal forecasting method. Enterprises can choosedifferent forecasting methods based on the needs and characteristics of spare parts,and Inventory Manager can revise the foresting value of the spare parts according totheir experience. And adopt different models for different categories. At last, we getthe parameters of safety stock, spare parts order point, order quantity and some otherparameters which corresponding to a certain level. These solve the problem ofoverstock and funds occupied by inventory effectively in certain extent.
